TIPS FOR HEALTHY EYE:
Sleep for at least 7-8 hours a day. Rest will refresh the eyes and help them work more efficiently.
Do not rub your eyes for any reason but instant just blink. Blinking is a good message and exercise to the eyes.
Always use sunglasses during peak time of the day to protect your eyes from the harmful ultra violet radiation present in the sunrays. Direct sun rays cause heavy damages to eyes.
Always use goggles while swimming, Water that gets into your eyes may lead to allergies and infections.
Drink at least 8 glasses of water in a day to avoid any kind of puffiness in the eyeses.Drinking lot of water helps avoid de-hydration and to flesh out from the body.
Vitamin A is vital for normal vision keeping a balanced diet, including food like watermelon, tomato, papaya, carrot and lots of green leafy vegetables can help avoid night blindness and other disorders related to the eye, which are mainly caused due to the deficiency of vitamin A.
Read/Write under good lighting conditions. Tube light is preferred over CFL.
Don't rub the eyes if something goes inside. Wash with clean cold water & consult doctor
Rest periodically after prolonged near work like studying books/computer work
People above 40 years must undergo complete eye checkup including retinal examination to rule out any vision disorder
Annual checkup is recommended for people above 40 years
Every Diabetic/Hypertensive patients must check their eyes every 6 months
Don't ignore small symptoms like redness, itching, watering and swelling of the eye. If not treated with care at the early stages, eyes can suffer serious damages even leading to loss of vision.
Do not self-medicate or resort to hold prescription in times of discomfort in your eyes.
At the first sign of persistent redness or irritation in the eye, consult your eye specialist
